About BUG
Content Warnings
Bug is a dark psychological thriller show that explores troubling themes that we've all encountered in our life in some form or another, and we understand that some viewers prefer to be prepped on what to expect for the show. For some it's to steel themselves for an emotional ride, while others may find the content too discomforting to attend.

We hope this page will give clarity to those that require it to make informed decisions on whether they would like to attend, and who you may want to attend with.

Major content warnings: Violence, Domestic abuse/assault, drug/alcohol abuse, and self harm

Why? - The Philosophy of Dark Horror
You may wonder after reading the above content warning, "Why should I go? This doesn't sound fun."

You'd be right. Even those who already enjoy traditional horror won't find this piece provides the same escapism or thrill that standard horror offers. In fact, much like the characters in the show, the audience is forced to confront what is being presented to them. These moments will be discomforting, and that is where dark horror comes alive.

Bug, and other art like it, creates a space for people to safely explore their relationship with discomfort. We invite attendees to not only watch the show, but watch how they react to it. Don't shy away from the discomfort, don't push it out of mind, just sit with it, and allow yourself to study how it makes you feel.
This, like no other feeling could, will put you directly into the shoes of the characters. Once you emotionally lower yourself to their level, you will not only feel their discomfort, but their fear, anger, and paranoia as well. From there, experiencing Bug turns into a deeply personal journey for the audience. The true beauty of Bug is found in the examination, not just the show itself.

Watching Bug performed is only half of the experience. The rest is on you. The discomfort of the show will follow you out of the theater, whether you want it to or not. The question is, will you confront that? If you do, even if you decide you never want to see the show again, we will have succeeded.
The point isn't to put on a show that entertains or placates. The point is to present you with the raw, unfiltered reality of these characters and our world, and you take it from there.

We hope you'll join us in trying to find the comfort in discomfort by attending Bug.
